Ward (Samuel G.) House is built.

1861

It is located at 1 Commonwealth Avenue. Subsequent occupants include J. Montgomery Sears and his wife Sara Choate Sears. The building is combined with 12 Arlington Street in 1893 to accommodate Mrs. Sears, a painter and art collector and patron, and to create a palatial second floor music room, in which pianist Ignace Paderewski and violinist Fritz Kreisler play. The building is subsequently converted to commercial use and becomes home to Harbridge House consulting firm.
